To email us, replace “(at)” with “@”. Please use the subject line Data Protection Enquiry or Data Protection Complaint where appropriate.

1. Who we are

DM Bathrooms is the controller responsible for the personal information collected through this website and our bathroom renovation enquiry process.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, how long we keep it and the rights available to you under UK data protection law.

2. Information we collect

When you submit an enquiry through our website, we collect:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the first part of your postcode; and
  • the information you choose to provide about your proposed bathroom project.

Our hosting provider may also create standard technical server logs, such as an IP address, browser information, date and time of access, for website operation and security.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you provide to:

  • respond to your enquiry;
  • discuss your bathroom renovation requirements;
  • arrange a free visit where appropriate;
  • prepare and provide a quotation;
  • manage any work you ask us to carry out; and
  • protect the website and enquiry form against spam, misuse and security threats.

We do not use website enquiries for unrelated marketing unless you separately ask or agree to receive it.

4. Our lawful bases

We normally use your information because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or to perform a contract with you.

We may rely on our legitimate interests to operate and secure the website, prevent spam, maintain appropriate business records and deal with enquiries efficiently. Where information must be retained for tax, accounting, insurance or legal purposes, we may process it to comply with a legal obligation.

5. How long we keep your information

We normally retain initial enquiries for up to 12 months so that we can respond, follow up where appropriate and understand the history of an enquiry.

If you become a customer, relevant records may be kept for the period required for contractual, tax, accounting, insurance or legal purposes. This is commonly up to six years, depending on the type of record and the reason it is required.

Information that is no longer required is deleted or securely disposed of.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information.

Where necessary, information may be processed by trusted providers that support our website hosting and email services, including our hosting provider and Google Gmail. We may also share relevant information with professional advisers, insurers, contractors or public authorities where this is necessary to provide the requested service, protect legal rights or comply with the law.

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we expect appropriate legal safeguards to be used.

7. Cookies and similar technology

The public website does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. Essential session technology may be used for security, form protection or the private administration area. These features are necessary for the website to operate securely.

8. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • ask us to delete information;
  • ask us to restrict how information is used;
  • object to certain uses of your information; and
  • receive certain information in a portable format.

These rights are not absolute and may depend on the lawful basis and circumstances. To make a request, contact us using the privacy email shown above. We may need to confirm your identity before responding.

9. Data protection complaints

You can raise a data protection complaint by emailing dmbathrooms.uk(at)gmail.com with the subject line Data Protection Complaint. Please explain what has happened and what you would like us to do.

We will acknowledge a data protection complaint within 30 days, take appropriate steps to investigate it, keep you informed where necessary and communicate the outcome without unjustifiable or excessive delay.

If you remain dissatisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection. Guidance is available at ico.org.uk.

10. Providing your information

You are not legally required to use our enquiry form. However, we need your name, email address, postcode area and enough project information to understand and respond to your enquiry. If this information is not provided, we may be unable to respond or prepare a quotation.

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, website or legal obligations change. The latest version will always be published on this page with its update date.
